Hole in my outer Transom plate/gimbal bearing housing!

I have finally tracked my water leak to a corrosion hole in my outer Transom plate! Annodes were almost non existent when I bought his boat. This leak has been driving me mad but at least it's not a rotten Transom.
The boat is a Fletcher 1991 with a 2004 3.0 Mercruiser and a Alpha I Gen II outdrive.
Anyone got a spare outer Transom plate in the CA 94010 area?

Personally, I'm a big fan of boat life caulk. Bonds to metal and stays flexible. I'd clean the hole out first with a grinding stone on a dremel... or a needle file depending on size... Make sure stuff goes in one side and out the other and no voids.

Thanks very much. I will give it a go. I will be in favour again with my daughter who is upset that the boat is out of commission.
Just hope for some sunshine now.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to weld the transom with the appropriate metal?(I'm assuming it is Aluminum).
Thanks.

Theres a Gimbal housing on eBay.co.uk which is being sold in Florida. its reference is here: 282572649197.
The number on the part doesn't bear any resemblance to the part number listed when I look for a new one(which I know is not uncommon).
Any idea if the listed one will fit my boat?
I know I'm asking a lot here. My engine serial is OW15695 and my Drive is OF844536. Its a 3.0 Mercruiser.
Sorry to be a pita!

The gimbal housing you found on EBay is for a Alpha One, Gen One which basically was designed for transom assemblies made for boats 1990 and under....In 1991 Merc went to a Gen 2 transom design and being your Transom Assembly serial number is 0F844536 would make yours a 1996 model year which is a Gen 2 Alpha.

The one you found doesn't have a place for the drive gear oil-line for the gear lube monitor bottle mounted on the engine....Plus the drive wouldn't fit correctly should you try and mount the drive you have now to that transom assembly.

For reference, Here's the one you found,

The casting number 94992-C2 (and/or C3) found on the gimbal ring helped confirm what design it was outside of just knowing the visual between the two. An example of info for you regarding the casting number you found, http://www.ebay.com/itm/94992-C3-94993A7-Gimbal-Ring-1983-1990-Mercruiser-R-MR-/292012416327
