"'84 johnson 140, last week blew a head gasket. While removing bolts to remove cover, 4 bolt heads broke off leaving the bolts in the block. Two of the bolts are around the perimeter of the head and two are in the center of the head at(above/below) the spark plug. Three bolts were not a problem to bore and re-tap. But, while boring out one of the latter bolts, I drilled to deep. I fear I've punctured the cylinder wall. I have re-tapped the hole and it will hold the bolt. I'm afraid to start the motor. Have I killed the motor?"

"Thanks Tom. I pulled the plugs, squirted some oil, and followed your instructions. No visible metal flakes. Engine runs well. I feel much better now. Stick around sooner or later I will mess something else up and need your help.

Thanks!"
