Holding in choke

i have a '88 88spl johnson

i have a '88 88spl johnson that on low throttle speed the ingine runs ok. at high throttle the engine looses power until the key choke is pushed in..? any help?

spark test
compression test
if all ok,..then u need to clean/rebuild carbs,they have to be spotless,all the pinholes,tubes jets etc,...must be clean/clear."

"thanks a bunch for the response. the compression test came back 110 on the top 115 on bottom. i guess that's ok? and just to make sure the fuel mix on that engine should be 50 to 1 correct? at least that is what i found on the internet, before finding this sight....thanks goodness..lots of great info..thank you guys a bunch..you guys should add a few links for the medical, accountants, lawyers ( well maybe not them), and other who don't know much about boats but are experts in other fields, to help you guys with questions you might have about other things so we may repay you with info/help and good as yours...

thanks for all the advise. i pulled the carbs and cleaned them. i discovered the pin that held the float in the bowl was not in place so the float was not working in the lower carb. now she runs like a spotted bottom monkey...thanks again. you know since i found this forum i rarely go anywhere else with my question. even the manufacturers website are not as helpful as this one.
