2000 M/C 5.0 with a Bravo 3
Just wanted to thank all of you for your help and suggestions. After changing Manifolds/Elbow's Mercruiser Sea Water pump impeller kit, Checking the Heat Exchanger for blockage, Removed and replaced the Thermostat nothing seemed to help. So this weekend I installed a 1 1/2" through hull and "tee'd" it into the existing line and now The gauge stays on 160 at sustained 4000 rpm. I was definitely lacking water due to "Bravo-itis" a know problem with the Bravo 3.

Thanks again for you help

It's not a Bravo 3 problem. It is a bravo transom assembly problem. The water hose gets pinched off when the assembly corrodes. I would remove the water fitting and put on a block off plate. then cut the water hose out in the bell housing to keep the drive cool.

Eventually your water hose will close completely and the drive will overheat.
