High rpm surge

As most of you know I was having a banging noise in my lower end. Well took your advice and asked to have the the lower that came on the new engine put back on. Went out last night and engine ran great. Only thing I found was I had a high rpm surge. If I backed off a bit it went away. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. The engine is a ocean pro 225 j225vxsif serial is g04876621

I have replaced fuel line, primer, fuel filter, but I think there is some thing to that because I squeezed the primer while my son drove and it went away. Thank you for your help.

A surge that occurs at WOT but goes away with decreased throttle or squeezing the primer bulb eliminates the problem, sure sounds like some kind of air leak in the fuel supply. Double and triple check all fuel fittings. Also, take a good look at your carburetor float chambers. These plastic units can warp and could be a point of air sucking in.

Hope not , just had it re done.
Did the problem exist before the VRO was rebuilt? If so you can probably rule that out. If the problem developed after the rebuild, then I'd say you either have a bad diaphragm, gasket, a possible crack in the VRO housing, or there is a bad/loose/broken fitting somewhere.

Ok the engine I bought to replace the bad engine they were mixing fuel. The mechanic removed mine from old engine and rebuilt it. The old engine did not surge. But I think i am going to chek it myself just to be sure. I know it is pumping oil. But may loose presure at high rpm. Again thank you for your time.
