Hi all, I need a little wiring help.

First off, let me introduce myself. I have a '97 Maxum 2100 SR2 bow rider. I bought it used in April of last year, blew a head in June, and spun a bearing in September. I had been around boats my whole childhood, but this is the first one I ever owned. The hull was in great shape. The interior was really getting brittle though, and the engine needed to be overhauled. I decided that I would make this engine the first engine I ever overhauled. I had a master mechanic (both auto and aircraft) overlooking my job. I ended up replacing the crankshaft and the #1 piston head and rod due to the spun bearing. I put it all back together very meticulously and we started it on the stand. It fired right up. We put it in the boat and I head over to a boat mechanic friend of mine to help with the install of the lower unit and wiring hook up. We came across a wire that comes out of the wiring harness. It is white with a forrest green line. It either goes to the ignition coil or the breaker switch. I also have a group of wires, 2 green with yellow stripe and 2 black that go towards the cockpit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will take pics of the boat when it's done later this week.

I guess it would help if I added that it is a mercruiser 350 5.7 liter with a 2 bbl mercarb and a Thunderbolt IV distributor. I am not sure of the year because this is not the original engine for the boat. It did not have a s/n plate on the block. But I did rebuild the whole thing and had it all checked for cracks. It was put on an engine stand before installation in the boat and it cranked over in 1/2 turn. Now the starter tries and it doesn't budge.

You said TBIV, if the timing module is mounted to the distributor it is a TBV

White with green stripe comes out of the timing module, a second white with green goes to a terminal block and connects to another wire (grey) and the grey goes to the interupt (cutout) switch. The white with green stripe may also go directly to the switch.

Schematic shows NO green with yellow stripe........

Black is always ground.
 
Thanks for your help Kghost. I will get the boat back from the upholster on Friday and will look at it further. The timing module, I assume, is the part that is attached to the distributor and has a plug that plugs into it from the harness. I could've sworn it said thunderbolt IV, but you are most likely right. As for the green and yellow wires, I have to study more to see where they go, they might have led up to the dashboard. The white/Forrest green wire you say should go to the interrupt switch, is that the circuit button??

No All alpha 1 oudrive shift systems have a interupt switch at the shift bracket location, where the control cable and short shift cable meet.

The switch activated when shifting OUT of gear (forward or reverse) The switch momentarily interupts the ignition (grounds it out) so the gears can dissengage.......

WHen they went to the ON distributor timing module I believe this is a TBV
 
Hi, I found out the the green/yellow wires go to the fuel tank. One of the black wires in that group operates the blower. Haven't figured out what the other black wire goes to. Any idea where those wires go to??
 
I agree...fuel gauge sender is pink and a black ground attaches to a sender housing screw...someone has changed the wiring w/o reference to color code.
 
I do have a pink wire also. It's attached to the center bolt on the fuel tank. The green/yellow wires are connected to the little slide to the side of the center bolt. One of the green/yellow wires comes out to nothing (bare wire). The other goes back to the 4 wires I initially had a question about. Another green/yellow wire comes from what looks like the back of the fuel cap. Kind of like its grounded to it. That wire also traces back to the 4 wires. The connectors are have a small hole that would be big enough to fit the ignition coil or the oil pressure sensor. my issue is where do i put those wiress. i know black goes to ground, but what do the two green/yellow wires go to??
