Hi. I have an old 40 hp Evinrude serial A0114500. What year is it

I assume that you're getting that number from a core plug on the powerhead?

Depending on the year, there should be a small plate attached to the port (left) transom bracket with the model and serial number on it, OR a large plate attached to the steering swivel bracket just under the forward portion of the hood pan, OR a heavy duty decal at the top portion of the steering swivel bracket between the swivel bracket and the long exhaust housing.

Ok its 40553C. My old number was from the core plug.

I always new Evinrudes were the best, we had 1967 Merc that really gave up the ghost. This one runs like a song
