Hey Croozertoo solved the hard start problem

" I always had a hard time starting the Catalina after letting it sit for more than a day or two. Found out that the bowl on the Quadrajet was leaking from two small plugs in the bottom of the bowl on the primary side. The carb has been rebuilt and epoxy plugs installed in place of the original brass ones. The problem has disappeared. Croozertoo, I know you had mentioned that your Catalina has the same problem. Hopes this helps.

"Thanks, Joe. Unfortunately, mine are epoxied,too. But I didn't renew the epoxy when I rebuilt my Q-jet last year, so I guess it still could be leaking. It's only a problem if the boat sits for more than 4 or 5 days, so I haven't been real motivated to fix it. Glad you found the cause on yours!
