I have a 1977 75hp evinrude model 75743s. I'm trying to rebuild 3 carburetors. Top on has serial number 319230 d2. Middle and bottom have serial number 322292. I hot the rebuild kit 0396701 for all three. Will this work. Looks to work but I find no rebuild advice for these 3 carbs. Any help is appreciated thanks

All 3 carburetors use the same kit.-----Carburetors are very simple.------Everybody picks on carburetors first.------What is your motor doing / not doing ?----What trouble shooting was done ?

I am guilty of picking on carbs first. Why? Fuel is crap today. MN is ethanol state.....1 of 7 states that they cram it down our throats. At least 1/2 of all my repairs here are fuel related. This includes diesel fuel too. I can't run the garbage in my old equipment......gotta buy heating fuel and pour in additives.
Be sure to be careful when cleaning main jet. It will be open, but may have residue that will restrict its flow. Jets are carefully engineered to provide the exact amount of fuel needed for your motor....not considering higher altitudes, say above 3500 ft. Be sure not to change jet bore size, but instead use acetone, or throttle body cleaner and a welding tip cleaner. Why? Welding tip cleaners will not harm the material that the jets are made of, and alter the orifice size....(unless you go ham with it). Don't apply any pressure on float needle when adjusting the float to parallel to the carb float chamber mounting surface. When carbs are bolted back into position, make sure they are synchronized to all open exactly the same....why? Because if a piston is getting dragged up and down by the other operating cylinders and not getting fuel/oil mix.....it can cause permanent damage.

Thanks. For info. Yes It runs but not well. As I say bowls leak. I am just doing a rework to stop leaks. Yes fuel is crap today but still cost to waste. So I wanted to be sure I got the right set of gaskets to use.

Have another wonderful issue now. Ok 1 I hve 3 carbs. Number on top carb is 319230-d2. Middle and lower carbs have 322292 on the throttle body. No other serial numbers found. Now the orfices are stuck. And broken off. I will have to drill out. Now how can I find the replacements. I cant find these exact carburetors online. Yes they are old. So any assistance finding the right orfices would be appreciated.

Call Tim's Outboard in Hackensack MN. 218 682 2331. Replace float bowls and main jets. It's pretty difficult to do what your planning. Jet size should be found in parts lookup here at Marine Engine.

I'm sorry I have discovered a major problem with my problem. I have a 1977 meter. Someone has placed a 1975 carb on it. So that explains why part numbers dont match the catalog or diagram. The 1975 motor was a 70hp. Mine is a 75hp.

Carb swaps, eh? Wonder why? Should be compatable carbs. Call Tim's they can help you out for parts. Did you do a compression test? Have all plugs removed, full battery charge, to get a nice fast spin. Should max out in 5 to 6 strokes.
