help!!!!

I have burned my wiring harness up on my 1978 in line 6 cylinder mercury 90 hp. I am now trying to wire the boat side harness straight to the motor. However I can not find a diagram for the boat side, and wire colors do not match. I have quicksilver control and 8 wire wiring harness boat side and it was a 6 wire mercury plug motor side with hot and ground made it 8 wire.... any suggestions
