hi folks, i have a 2hp evinrude outboard, and its over heating, and refusing to pump water, once heated engine loses power, and stalls after 15 minutes roughly, points have been checked and so has plugs, everythings ok with them, any help to why its still failing?

rgds in advance john

If its not pumping water that's the reason why it is overheating.
If you have run it to the point that is is failing due to the overheating then you may already have done serious damage to piston and or bore.

Maybe do a compression test and decide whether to junk it or sort it out.

If you decide it is worth saving then first thing will be a water pump overhaul. Provided it has not been run dry you may only need a new impeller. If it has been run dry then a more comprehensive pump overhaul may be required. (If possible even)

Worth checking once the gear case is off (assuming it is an oldish one with the pump on top of the gear-case) that you can get a water flow through the engine via the water tube from a hose.

Sorry you have not given either the year or the model number so cannot be any more specific on some of those issues.

Your model number has me beaten.

B probably means made in Belgium;
E Evinrude
2 2hp
R ropestart ( as if a 2hp would be anything else!)

but 000 is a mystery.

Check it carefully, it may be COC. If so it means its a 1985 model.
If it is a 1985 I can confirm that the water pump is on top of the gearcase but it should be pretty straightforward to drop it off to get at the pump.
