I just got back from a day of fishing and scratching my head. After running to my favorite fish hole and sitting for the biggest part of the day, we were ready to leave and when I turned the ignition to on, my boat became possessed and started cranking over on it's own after I released the key. I noticed that it appeared that that the ignition was stuck in the choke position. There should be 3 positions from what I understand. Off, choke, and start. It did not start up on it's own but did crank over. I quickly switched it off, but then I turned it on, there was the constant "buzz" as if the overheat warning had been activated. The engine had been sitting for several hours at this point. Regardless, I did have to start it and it ran great, full ranges of rpms, water was peeing at the tell tale and I checked and it was not hot, but yet the alarm was still sounding all the way back to the dock. When I got it home and hooked up to flush the motor, the alarm again sounded when I switched it on.
Does anyone have any idea where I need to start looking for this problem?
