i have a 94 mercury 200 hp xl 2.5L its getting what i assume to be water ( white milky substance) in the inline fuel filter, i have drained all the fuel from the tank cleaned and dried it, put fresh fuel with sta-bil ethonol treatment in it, replaced water separater filter, went for a run and same thing as last time, got about 1/8th mile at WOT and engine stopped, pulled cowling and white substance in filter again. is it possible for water to enter the system from where the fuel pump attaches to the engine
any help would be good

That white crap is caused by water and ethanol getting together in your tank. It won't burn, goes right through water separators, and no known additive will make it. (The Sta-bil only prevents it from forming--it can't get rid of it.) You'll have to thoroughly clean out your fuel tank(s) to get rid of it.

thanks Jeff,
i did all you said, let the tank dry for a full week while i was out of town working. thats why i was asking if there was any way water could enter the fuel system from where it gose on the side of the block
