Hello gentlemen,
I am new to boating, I got an inflatable with a 1996 Mercury 2 stroke 15hp.
Engine had some issues but good compression, I replaced carb, coils, spark plugs and the entire water pump. Now it runs good but I couldn’t get rid of a cooling problem:
At idle the tell tale works fine, but when increasing rpms it becomes intermittent, like 6 sec on 6 sec off, like it would lose prime.
I also notice water coming out in the mid section from the shifter rod hole. Since the pump and grommet are new, at this point I am suspecting the upper grommet at the base of the power head could be bad, or the copper pipe could be cracked. Do you agree? Any insight? I don’t know how to remove the power head..
