Help with Honda BF20D - need advice

Purchased used 14' alumacraft with 20hp honda 4 stroke. All 2009. Used twice then sat in garage for 4 years prior to my purchase. Changed oils and water pump. Fired right up. Idles beautiful. First ride it seemed that it did not have any high end. hard time planing off. Feels like I should have more throttle. Cleaned carbs out (surprising clean upon removal), back together, ran the same. Put tiny tach on and it seems I am running at 2800-3000 wide open. Way too low. This boat barely planes off with three adults.

I know 4 strokes dont perform the same as 2 strokes. But My gut tells me its just not right and more than a prop issue.

So first question. Who has one? If so - whats it on and how does it perform for you? Same? better?

Second question. what next? Maybe still a carb issue? New carb is 160 bucks. local honda dealer wants 75 bucks just to take a ride and tell me if it seems right/wrong.

Any insights would be very much appreciated

Thank you.

BF20, at WOT it should reach at least 4800-5000 ,don't think its a pro issue, but check engine mounting height.

4 years old engine, carburetor get worse unless fuel was totally drained, you have to clean it well all the small passages and holes. fuel filters fuel tank, should get clean complete fuel system.

Thank you. Might try another cleaning and replace the fule line from the tank. After that a new carb probably. Just hoping someone can tell me they have a similar set up with much better performance to confirm my worries as well.....
