I have a 20hp Evinrude tiller motor which I just purchased on a j16 Carolina skiff. The seller stated it was a 1989 but I cannot find any information about the motor anywhere on it.
The silver stamp on the block shows - G2934557
I do not see any other stamps on the block or elsewhere. I am trying to get the motor running as there is no spark to the coils. I am thinking the power pack and/or the charging coil is bad. After taking the flywheel off and getting to those parts. The charging coil appears to have melted... Those part numbers are Powerpack- CD2USL/61 8BQ then 2nd line- 584331M 0A
When I searched the part number the conversion kit came up but do not know if I should go that route ($120) or just try a new charging coil ($25)?
