hi
my 2016 DF20A ( HAS ABOUT 1600 HRS ON IT

HI GANG

MY 2016 DF20A with about 1600 hrs on it- is acting up as below:
when using the throttle there is a very slow to respond and lag time from about 1/5 to 5/8 throttle position BOTH when throttling up and down.
- in this throttle range it takes a more than normal throttle position to maintain the normal speed at that throttle position
it starts great - idle/lower rpm ok and above 5/8 rpm ok
it also does not always do it - but is doing it much more frequently now
HELP!!!!

Thanks for the reply
All looks ok with the throttle linkage and assy, turns smooth and no play

This engine is fuel injected and the throttle shaft I believe has a throttle position sensor on or near the end of the throttle shaft

It does not act up constantly but is doing it more frequently

I couldn’t find a throttle position sensor in the “Sensor” section from the above link. Not saying there isn’t one, I just couldn’t find it. If the TPS sensor is acting up it should have thrown a code?

Could it been a venting issue? Have you tried pumping the fuel primer bulb when it starts to act up? Maybe a bit of debris in the fuel system partially plugging a line up sometimes? Debris in the fuel pickup hose? Kind of grasping at straws.

no codes from the onboard limited diagnostics light
the tps sensor is located on the throttle body and can NOT be bought seperate, you must buy the whole throttle body assy
as far as fuel delivery, not counting the 2 fuel pumps i believe it is ok
i am running a strong mixture of gas and SEAFOAM thru it to see if that helps

also, what makes me thinking the TPS is the fact the throttle reponse is slow/sluggish/delayed - ALSO ON DECELERATION, no just accelerating.
i am thinking that if it had anything to do with the fuel delivery to the throttle body it should not make any difference when decelerating
and it seems okay at high throttle positions ???

I’ll look on my service manual, I believe there is a test procedure. Heading out shortly I’ll look later but my service manual is for a DF90A so I don’t know how applicable or helpful it will be.

I have a service manual for it but it kind of describes the issue in the trouble shooting section along with a couple of possible causes but not conclusive
If the TPS is real faulty it is supposed to flash a sequence on the red engine light which it is not
I also do not have the test equipment to do the tests
The dealers in this area. Are pathetic

I really hoping that someone on this form has had a similar issue with their Suzuki fuel injected motor and can tell me what the problem was and how it was fixed

Not many Suzuki owners on this forum. You would have a bigger audience on The Hull Truth forum, there are some very knowledgeable people on that forum.

To me your issue sounds fuel or mechanical related, at 1600 hours things are starting to wear. Intermittent issues are hard to find as you very well know.

You have little to no confidence in the local dealers which is unfortunate, they have the dianosistic software that might help. I think it’s called Suzuki SDS which you can buy.

When was the spark plugs last changed?

Dhave you used your diagnostic software and is it easy to use and ok
Is it a disc or a download and did it arrive with the correct connection cable and instructions??

I have used the software. It's not a disc or download, it's a micro SD card. I found it fairly easy to install and use and it did have the correct cable for my DF20A. Instructions for set up are included.
