Help with a 2002 25hp cooling system pleaseeeee

I have a 02 Honda 25 that has been maintenanced very well and recently hit a sandbar. Unfortunately it tore my transom up and well as clogged my motor. I replaced the transom and wanted to go out fishing. While going over the motor before my trip I realized no water was coming out of the tell tale. So I dropped the lower unit and checked the water pump and impeller. They were fine. Inspected the hose leading to the tell tale as well as the tell tale outlet and all is clear. I pulled the thermostat out and it looked a little corroded so I replaced it while I had it apart. Ran the motor but still no water coming out of the tell tale. I then pulled the new thermostat back out and ran water in the opening and water came out of the prop exhaust and holes near the water inlet. I am stuck now, I can't find water flow diagrams or anything to aid me on where to check next. Please help!!!!

Did you blow water up through the pipe up from the water pump? If it was working before your encounter with the sand bar it seems likely that some sand has gone up inside. Flowing water down into the thermostat housing can push water down that pipe, but it can also just go through the water jackets and out the exhaust without clearing the blockage.

I have a similar problem. My 8hp 4 stroke Honda OB will not vacate cooling water through rear outlet but will shoot out through the water flushing side outlet instead! (open cover) Has any one come across this issue. Motor's thermo was replaced 2 seasons ago, flushed regularly & stored in warm basement. I performed Honda in GA suggestion to blow compressed air back up rear outlet w/o results. Worked fine last summer.
