i have a bit of mechanic skills but first time working with marine i boat a bot with no engine and no drive it does have a transom
i bought a v8 305 equiped and ready to bolt in place now i was told i need a merc alpha gen 1 or 2 to bolt up
i got a 898 drive and some say it will fit but some say no i tried and the shifter peice on the transom where the other on the drive should slide in together dont line up can i change that peice to a shorter one
