Help with 25 hp Johnson 2 stroke - cut oil wires

Hi, new boat owner here. I just purchased a 16 foot boat that has a Johnson two-stroke engine with oil injection that was made in 1996. Somebody cut the wires that lead from the top of the oil reservoir to the wiring harness. Should I replace this and try to restore the wires? Did the do this on purpose? Like, were they just bypassing this oil setup and pre-mixing the gas and oil? How can I tell? And what should I do to test this?

I have attached a picture

That oil mixing unit and the oil tank should be removed.-----Taken to the nearest landfill and heaved on the junk pile.----Mix gas and oil at 50:1 in the fuel tank.-----Take a compression test.---Post the actual values.----Install a new water pump impeller as well.

Yikes! I purchased a compression testing kit and impeller replacement off Amazon. Do you have any detailed instructions on how to delete the oil injection/premix for this model? It looks to be a three cylinder engine. Model is J25TKLEUR. I’ve already done the Google and YouTube searches and can’t seem to find anything about this engine!!

Take the unit off.----Throw it away.-----I think it will be obvious on what to do with fuel hose then.----I have a bunch of these 3 cylinder engines for parts.

Ok. Oil pump is gone. Hooked output of the fuel filter directly into the line that goes to the carburetor manifold. Still does not want to start. It will fire up with ether for a few seconds. Still waiting on the compression testing device. Is it the carburetors? Is there a way to check them without taking everything apart?

It is a remote start. I took off the big black plastic thing in the front to get at carburetors. The butterfly’s were dripping straight oil. I cleaned all the oil out. Got it to start but runs rough and smoky. I think it had a lot of oil inside those carbs. It’s not pumping water so I only ran it for like 20 seconds. Impeller just arrived today so that’s next. Thanks for your advice!!!

Hi. My boat has a key to crank the electric starter motor but the key does not go in or out… it just turns. The motor does have a choke and I pulled it out during g cold start and pushed it back in once it fired up.
