Hello all,
I have an 84 evinrude I want to hook a tach on. Its a generic tach with a - , + and signal. It also has selector for 2,4 or 6 cylinder. My question is what wire do I need to find for it to get signal to work. I know there is a plug in the end of the engine controls that might have the wire or wires I'm looking to tap in to. I know on my 1979 Johnson 85 hp controls the plug has the 3 wires for hooking up a tach. The 84 evinrude has the same type plug but what wire is what and can I just hook into the sending wire and use the positive and negitive from under the dash to lessen the wiring from the controls? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
