help starting a little Merc

[Seagoing Houseboater]

Over the winter a friend give me a good deal on a little 8 hp 4 stroke Merc. it's just a few years old and used very little. So - this past week i change the oil, buy fresh gas and take it to the lake to see if she will start. No luck. It's a clean little engine but i know very little about these type engines - - - - any suggestions?

kimcrwbr1 You seem to like the trick I gave you of pumping seafoam into the carbs don't you? It works great. Try disconnecting the fuel line at the tank, drain out the gas in the line and then stick the hose into the Seafoam can and pump it into the carbs w/the squeezeball. Drain the carbs or run them dry first. If there is a fuel/water separator filter just dump it and fill it with Seafoam.
