I have been having some issues getting motor running.
It was sitting without being started for many months. It may have been as long as 18. This is due to major health issues.
Health issues are finally moving behind me and I went outside a few days ago to start up my boat as I plan on getting on the water soon.
It started up no problem but I realized I forgot to hook water to it. I turned it off immediately, Hooked up the water to it and started it again. It ran good. It ran for about 3-5 minutes then it died. It shut off as if I had turned the key to it. I didnt. I figured I must have been low on fuel and i ran out. I towed it to the gas station and filled it. Rather than it taking 35 gallons it only took about 5. So it did not shut off from running out of fuel as I had expected.
Along with the 5 gallons of gas I put it in my tank to top it off, I also put a can of seafoam and a bottle of red stabil.
Got it home tried to start it again, it would not start. It would sound as if was about to, blow smoke and then not crank over. It did this a lot.
Now it is at the point where it will not even do that. It just cranks and cranks and cranks till the battery gets low and its no longer spinning fast enough to start.
A little history.
In 2012 I had my power pack, my VRO pump, my fuel lines and spark plugs replaced by the dealer.
After that healt4h issues arose and the boat was only used for about 20-30 hours. The last time it was actually on the water was in Nov 2015. The gas in the tank (other than the 5 gals I put in it last week) is from then. I always put seafoam and stabil in the gas when I fill it up. so its had both in it all this time
ok.. recently this is what I have done, with suggestions I have gotten from folks on the internet:
I have checked for spark. I have it in all 6 cylinders.
I have removed the brass drain screw at teh base of the carbs, let it drain, then pumped my bubble. Gas flows out effortlessly.
My primer solenoid switch is in the run position. I have switched it to teh start position to try to start it from tehre as well. Did not work.
I have replaced my bulb.
I bought a brand new 1 gal gas can and a 3' piece of fuel line, attached it to the end of the new bubble, attached the new bubble to my boat leading to the motor. I then pumped the bubble, gas flowed out of all the drains on the carb. I closed the drains up. Pumped the bubble till hard and then tried to crank the motor up. Did not work. Motor just spins.
I cannot get it started and I am confused.
If I have spark and clean gas I would think that it would start. I have both, its not starting.
Please help me.
