HELP removing lower unit on 30 hp evinrude 1989

i have dropped all bolts and d

i have dropped all bolts and disconnected the shift shaft gear case will only drop about a 1/4 of a inch.
am i missing somthing ?
i have looked the motor over to see any other connections but found none
it doesnt have an anoid on the bottom with a consealed bolt like most do.

Remove the water intake screen

Remove the water intake screen------ then the rest is easy.

Yes if you have disconnected t

Yes if you have disconnected the shift rod OK it's almost certainly the spline on the top of the drive shaft not coming free.
