"Hey guys, The late 80's Honda 100 9.9 HP 4stroke kicker I bought a few months back just started to give me problems. Motor had been running great. Took it off big boat and put on aluminum to go crabbing at Kayak. While out there I noticed my motor stopped holding an idle and gas was coming out from fitting on motor. Thinking I had flooded motor I did not think much about it.
Put motor back on big boat and tried to start it. Hard start and no idle. Drained carb and lines and checked for leaks in lines in motor.
Then switched to my spare tank with new bulb and lines. Still can get motor started. It will run at mid rpms and hold idle at mid rpms and high. However when trying to just idle it dies. When putting in gear in bucket it dies unless I step up the throttle.
This wont due
Any ideas what it may be. FYI it does not gain rpms when squeezing bulb and does not appear to have a fuel pump problem.
Would love some help or guidance on where to take motor and not get reamed near Seattle.
Note when I drained gas it was red like settiment in carb. Now comes out clear.
