help please.. need wiring assistance..diags / hooking up force 150 to merc control.

i recently acquired a Force 150.. with no controls. has good compression and the tilt trim works great as well. I want to hook it up to the built in controls i already have on my boat already.. from my 200 mercury that blew a piston..long story.. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
 
Mercury took over Force in the mid 1990's. If your engine is a Force by Mercury it should work. If not there are many differences. The cables for one are differnt on the older Force models and of coarse the wiring harness will not plug in. You could probably buy a used control box for $150 and sell yours to cover the cost. If you have an aftermarket binacle mount (sticking out of the dash) you could keep it but you would still need new cables. It might work but there are many things to consider. For starters, what year is this Force? Is it by Mercury or US Marine?
 
You probably need to get a new shifter(the throw is usually different) and cables.Do you need a side mount or binacle mount shifter? Is your shifter a Mercury or aftermarket? Some aftermarkets will work.They are setup for different motors.
Mercurys wiring harness won't work.
