help please need help

i have an old merc engine says 80hp 2 cylinder 3 stroke on it but not sure sat all winter and now wont start seemes to be fule leaking form the middle charb so now looking for a manual i have seriel number 0P119488 but it is getting me no where online and was wondering if eny one could help me with year and modle
 
Likely a 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine.---------If you persist you can find a manual online.-------Try searching for ------boat info library-------and see if that helps you.

Thanx i have been trying for weeks for manual it def a 2 stroke 3 cylimder (good call) but every time i giv e the serial num to order manual they say it the 3.5hp engine lol. It seemes to be leaking petrol from the middle carb and def getting spark andpetrol to the plugs just nr fireing of u have any advise am all ears thanx again
 
Check the float and its setting. The same thing happenned with my 50HP....spilling gas out. Rebuilt the carbs and also found both floats were not adjusted and allowed gas to flow by the needle valve and out the carb throats.

Ok so strippped all the carbs and cleaned put them back not solved the prob seems to be fuel comig come the pard where carb connects to rest of engine any advice?
 
Did you replace the float needles and seats and adjust the floats to spec. Never put pressure on the float with your finger only use the weight of the float and pull it out and bend it then put it back in to check the level.

Yhi done tht and nothing. So i decided to put 2 stroke righr into the bores and she fired ran first time beautifull noice after a week only prob is if i stop and leve fpr few hours she wont fire i knw there is a fule pump but mus work as once i get her running she runs for hours. If i stop and start right away it is fine am wonderig if there is some sort of primer pump.
 
I know it doesn't take much when pushing that key in...it throws alot of gas in there, and could flood it.

Yh just dont knw how it fires and runs and keeps runing if i put two stroke into the bore straight away is there some kind off primer pump seperate to the fule pump
 
Just the primer bulb from the tank to the engine maybe have someone pump on the primer bulb as your pushing in on the key to prime the engine first then try and start it. How are you adjusting the slow speed needles maybe your just running to lean for a cold start. You want the idle air needles out CCW rich anyway to protect the motor running at slow speeds, it needs the extra oil.

Slow speed needles i have not touched them i dont knw wht ccw is sorry.
 
You said you stripped the carbs and cleaned them without touching the idle air needles? You did not clean the carbs properly! Seafoam should do the trick.

Ay thats rigjt as i didnt wana take the needels out and then not have them set up properly a have looked for seafoam but cant find it is it only an american product. New sympton is should thebprimer bulb get had agfter pumping as mine stays soft perhaps it time for a new engine lol
 
The primer bulb is a simple manual fuel pump.------If it does not go hard then you have -- (1 ) a bad bulb or ( 2 ) a leaking floatvalve or ( 3 ) a leaking fuel pump diaphragm or (4 ) air leaks in the hose or inside the fuel tank.-------All minor problems and easy to check out. -----Of course if you can solve this with money ( new motor ) then you do not have any problems.

lot of money for new one.. think next thing to try is a new fule pump as when the engine is first started there is not enought fule getting to the sparkplugs yet if i prty fule directically into the bores she starts and keeps running strange
 
May be that the " primer enricher " is not working properly ! Have you learned about it or checked it out ?-----Are you advancing the throttle for cold startup on this motor ?----------A fuel pump is easy to take apart for an inspection.---May just need a repair kit.----I do not understand the concept of rushing out to buy " new " without diagnosing the old.
