"Hello,

I've recently completed some extensive repairs on one of the two engines in my boat.

I had creamy oil and the engine was running rough, so it has had a strip down and the head reconditioned and refitted. It now runs very smoothly.

My issue is that I have a overheating problem. I have checked and double checked everything, impellers, heat exchanger, oil cooler ...

If I fill up the header on the river water side it drains a lot slower than my other engine (which is cooling fine). exhaust gases are coming out of the back of the boat, it seems that there is some issue with the flow of water out of the boat rather than in.

The heat exchanger is getting hot, which shouldn't happen that much as the water flow should be keeping it cool and there is steam/burning rubber coming from where the exchanger connects to the rubber bellow and pipe that goes out of the boat

Has anyone every come across this before, it has got me confused and I don't really want to take the boat out of the water.

Thanks!

Martin"

"Check the raw water hose connector in the outdrive, it is possibly corroded and the pump is sucking air rather than water when the boat is on the plane. Also, check the raw water strainer by the heat exchanger and make sure it is clean."
