First and foremost bear with me I am a frustrated wife of a boat owner and neither one of us know anything about them. We purchased a Glastron because it was a good buy and fun for the kids. It started fine when the owner showed it to us. Well...after the 2nd time out on it my hubby and kids were stranded it wouldn't start. So off to the boat shop for a diagnosis.
We were told it needed a new starter after many guesses and confusion to what the issue was.
had a new starter put on and the new fuel line pump.(which is horrible) kinks and doesn't fill pump very well.
Happy to have it all fixed and finally use it. Now we have metal shavings in the compartment. Hubby took it to the boat Dr. They were shocked and said they must have sent the wrong starter. They would order the correct one. Phone call a week later and told it needs a new FLY Wheel.
Would they not have known that while installing the starter?????

Please if you have any insight on any of this I would truly Appreciate it.

Thank you for replying!!!!
i looked at the starter and flywheel myself and it looks like they are not close enough together for the teeth to turn. It makes an awful grinding noise when trying to start???
The battery he said previously was giving enough power.
I felt that they should have known that if they put on a new starter... But needed clarification from someone who is knowledgeable about this. Now I can take it back to them and have more confidence in telling them that:)

On some motors they use different size flywheels and therefore different pinion gears on the starters. You have to get the correct match when installing either. Let them pay for it. It was their mistake.
