Help New boatie

Unless you're going to install a "New" VRO pump, I strongly suggest that you convert back to pre-mix using a 50/1 mixture as follows:

(VRO Pump Conversion To Straight Fuel Pump)
(J. Reeves)

You can convert the VRO pump into a straight fuel pump, eliminating the oil tank and VRO pump warning system, but retain the overheat warning setup (and fuel restriction warning if so equipped) by doing the following:

1 - Cut and plug the oil line at the engine so that the oil side of the VRO pump will not draw air into its system. Trace the wires from the back of the VRO to its rubber plug (electrical plug) and disconnect it.

2 - Trace the two wires from the oil tank to the engine, disconnect those two wires, then remove them and the oil tank.

3 - Mix the 50/1 oil in the proper amount with whatever quantity fuel you have. Disconnect the fuel line at the engine. Pump the fuel primer bulb until fuel exits that hose with the tint of whatever oil you used. Reconnect the fuel hose.

That's it. If you want to test the heat warning system to ease your mind, have the key in the on position, then ground out the tan heat sensor wire that you'll find protruding from the cylinder head. The warning horn should sound off.

Also, as a reminder....... DO NOT reuse any damaged cylinder heads!

With this motor running one oversize piston can I expect normal performance? With the other three being standard will this cause any other problems? Please advise the do and don'ts with running in an outboard motor.
I have decided to leave the VRO system intact. As the boat has a 100 litre tank and mixing oil and fuel would be a pain, also I have heard that the oil makes the fuel go stale quicker.

I know mixing the fuel and oil is a pain but its alot better than re-building again. VRO pumps are painfull i converted my 150 V6 back to pre-mix after the VRO pump failed like they seem to always do. The only way i would use a VRO pump is if it was new. I have tested alot of VRO pumps and 99% of them have been U/S. Adding oil to the fuel shouldn't let the fuel go stail any quicker

Got the boat back today, runs great, only taking it up to 4000 rpm's at the moment. have done three hours. Sounds great, no rattles, crisp sounding engine. I would like to replace the VRO pump with a new / reconditioned one. Mine has a few cracks around the screw holes. I priced one here localy and died when they told me the price. My engine is a E90TXARC 1994. Does anybody have VRO pump or know where I could get one at a reasonable price??
