Help identifying Mariner Outboard 50HP

Hello,

This is my first post and a long shot. Looking at a Mariner 50HP 4 cylinder outboard which is on a 1986 bass boat. I was unable to locate the serial number plate so going to throw out some pictures. This would be for a swap out project for my sons 16' Alumicraft with a solid running Mercury 25HP. The motor turned over smooth and supposedly ran in November of 2019.
Does anyone have any personal experience with this motor, good or bad?

Here are more photos hope the link works correctly.

Thanks in advance, Eric

Just a MERCURY motor that is painted grey.----Mid to late 1980's model.-----They built that style of engine since about 1960 and even earlier.-----Nothing wrong with the design.----If there is an " auto blend " oil tank , you throw that away as far as you can.---Mix gas / oil at 50:1 in the tank.----Install a new impeller and test run.

Thank for the reply. So for $550 including all controls and such a worth while investment for maybe a winter swap out? I am wondering how much better performance over the 25HP since the 50 much be at least 100+lbs heavier.

Damn right! that motor has Power Trim which is one of the best features you can have on a boat. Make sure you get the pump and hoses! 100 lbs heavier but 2x the HP. and you can trim the boat for performance.
