Hi All,
I was wondering if you seasoned pro's can help me out on this one. I have a mid 70's Merc (4 stroke). It was stored for a few years up here in Canada.
I tried everything to start it but it just doesn't want to.
Here's what I've done thus far.
Checked the plugs- they are practically new.
Checked the fuel filter and hoses- all clear.
Lubed everything up with grease.
I've used both throttle body cleaner and quick start. It starts for a few seconds and just dies. I've gone through a bottle of throttle body in case that there was carbon build up in the carb.
It's just not getting fuel to the carb and cylinders.

Any responses would be much appreciated.

How old is the gas? Todays gas doest last for years, thats for sure, even with stablizer. You might need to pull the carb and rebuild if the gas is fresh.

Just put in fresh gas. I found out today that it's a two stroke and not what my dad told me that it was a 4 stroke. Anyway, I asked a neighbour of mine to look at it and he told me to take the carb out and foam clean it...I'll be doing that tomorrow. I will also change the lower case oil and change the plugs (but they look clean).
