Hi all,
I just got a 77 25hp Evinrude, model 25702S. It was listed as short shaft and I didn't pay much attention to that when I bought it. Turns out it has a 5" shaft extension and is way too tall for my 16" transom. I have a 4" jack plate coming in the mail anyway, so I can get closer to reasonable height, but ideally I should remove the extension for my boat.
I'm trying to figure out how to shop for or assemble a reversion kit. I understand I need a 5" shorter driveshaft and shift linkage, and maybe some different-sized lower unit mounting bolts. And a shorter water pickup tube, if I want to keep this extension kit intact for resale (otherwise I could just cut the one that's in there now).
So I'm trying to figure out what I can from model numbers, as I might just buy a parts motor to have on hand. For instance, there's a local parts motor on Marketplace with model number 25402M. What does the M mean? What does the S mean in mine? Another one I could get is E25RCSA.
Would either of those be a good parts motor based on model number?
Apart from a parts motor, any other suggestion on how to put together a reversion kit?
TIA
