"Friend just bought a 19 foot
"Friend just bought a 19 foot boat and hes looking at a early 90s evinrude v6. He dosnt know the HP rating, guessing 175-200 and the motor hasnt run in 4 years. The motor also does not have a flywheel on it.
Two main concerns, how hard is it to put the flywheel on? My rude's flywheel has markings for various engine rotations, we have no idea what position the engine is in or how to tell or match it up with the flywheel, i assume were gonna need to know for the timing to be on. Any ideas? OR by some miracle can we just slap one on and call it good?
Also, they have a spare v6 johnson vro sitting around, about the same size and age, can he just take the flywhere off of that?
And we were looking for a plate for the model and serial numbers to id the motor, and its not on the transom mount like my old '77 is. He found this on a metal tab on the carbs..
395465 mx 2ak That it? IF not where should we be looking? Thanks"
