I am in the process of restoring a 1973 14' Terry Bass boat with the original Johnson 40HP engine.
I want to install a kill switch and can't locate specific instructions on the wiring connections.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Since I am not familiar with boat wiring I need a very elementary explanation: "2 + 2 = 4"!
Which wires on the starter switch would the kill switch actually be connected to?

If the ignition switch is wired correctly it will be the 2 wires ( black ) on the M terminals.----------When those 2 wires are connected together the motor stops.-------------You can wire up a kill switch and leave the stop function with the key the way it is.

Thanks for the clarification...I think I get it!

BTW, here are some photos. The one with the truck is the day I picked her up. Craigslist purchase for $1100.
Next photo is after some elbow grease on the finish.
