help 50 hp johnson

I have a 2003 pontoon with a 50hp johnson. Father in law let it sit with fuel in it for a year. We put it in the water and could only keep it running with a prime. Pulled plugs turned the motor a couple revolutions and got fuel from to cylinder but not the bottom. Where do i start with this? Carbs are buried by the way!

Just to start with, I would check the spark and compression. if they are ok move on to the fuel system. The carbs may be buried, but that's where I bet you find your problems.

Do as suggested above first but I'm betting on the carbs.
