HELP 198125 evinrude

have taken bottom leg off to replace water pump impellor has all been done and put back together,went to put leg back in and noticed if i turn prop the crankshaft is not turning what do i check,adjust plse any help appreciated.

cheers ibnfshn yes i had it in gear when i took leg off have not put leg back on merely turning the prop whilst had leg on bench and noticed that its not turning the driveshaft
 
1. Check again that it is in gear.
2. If in gear, check that the dive shaft is fully down in the pinion splines.
 
still have leg on bench in vise and turning the driveshaft certainly feels like its engaged in the pinion,but still not turning prop,prop just free spins
 
Take the shiftshaft and push it down then spin the prop,Pull the shiftshaft up from all the way down up i notch is neutral up one more is in gear again.
 
thank you so much dew2 dont know how it got knocked out of gear but sweet now hahaha thank you so much,cheers everyone for all your help was sort of sitting here down in the dump thinking hell this is going to be expensive hahaha.
