I have recently bought an engine and noticed while it is ticking over (in a tank of water) that there is no water coming out of the rubber hose. I put the engine in forward gear but still no water. The lower part of the main shaft gets warm, then the higher up the shaft I feel, the hotter it gets. I need advice because I live in Bulgaria and there is no help here whatsoever. If I put it in forward gear and speed up the revs would the water come out then and cool the engine? Any suggestions. Also, after a 15 minute run in neutral I turned the engine off, left it for 5 minutes then tried to restart if but it would not restart. I should mention I have a limited toolbox.
On the top part of the water pump where the rubber hose is, on the metal casing there is a word embossed "flush". There is a large screw there. Can anyone tell me what this is for?
The identification plate on the side of the engine shows:
Model No E100EETM
Ser No B00991395
Outboard Marine Corporation Belgium.
Thanks for your help.
