Head gasket sealant?

Hi - replacing the head gasket on a 1964 3hp. The gasket appears to be a fiberboard type of material. Should this be installed dry, or should there be some kind of gasket sealant on each side of the gasket?

The cylinder head was warped.----They all are.----Did you refinish it to make it flat ?----I typically put some oil on these gaskets before assembly.

So, am I hearing that it was really common for those heads to warp? I double checked mine, and it's within .002 in three axis.

Also, just motor oil as a head gasket sealant?

Every cylinder head I have looked at has been warped to some degree.------Make sure it is flat.-----You want the torque ( 80 inch lbs ) to compress the gasket.----Not waste it to straighten out the head.
