Mercruiser Alpha One, took the lower unit apart to change the impeller. Came off like a dream but getting it back on is a nightmare. I put the shifter in forward before I dropped it. I can spin the prop shaft but the vertical shaft will not move at all. Guy at the marine shop told me to spin the prop shaft when trying to get the verical shaft aligned, what am I doing wrong?
