Having problem with 83 25 hp Evinrude

Went fishing everything was fine motor ran good no problem. Got ready to head in and when I started giving it the gas it act like a clutch slipping. Could not get much over a high ideal or it would do it. Any suggestion on where to look for the problem would be appreciated. Just bought the boat 2 weeks ago and has been running great until now.

Sounds like the rubber shock absorber in the prop may be slipping. 2 things you can do and that is to mark the outer and inner parts of the prop.------After a run the marks should be in the same place.-------Or you could have a prop shop check the prop for you.

Thanks kimcrwbr1 for the info, but the prop that is on there now is 10x15 thru hub exhaust. Can't find a prop like it for a 83 motor.

And the model # of your " 83 " motor is ???

Sounds like the rubber hub that is pressed into the prop. Wasn't making any noise, was it?

I don't have any pictures now but will take some tomorrow. Having it rebuilt and will have it Tuesday afternoon. Thank you all that gave me info.
