Very hard to start but once it's going it restarts ok IF not too much time goes by.it gets hard to start again if it sits, I was thinking it's a weak fuel pump( old motor), weak vacuum!!!) and am considering installing a 12 v fuel pump ( rather than the standard squeeze bulb) but not sure of the pressure/pump to use or if I should just wire directly to the battery with a toggle or on off switch and should I use an inline fuse ??!! Anyone have any experience doing this or info/suggestions? HELP!!! Thanks in advance!!! Ps. new bulb and hose/connections did not solve problem!!

Some will argue.-----The fuel pump has very little to do with a cold start.--------You fill the carburetors with the manual pump.-----Is your choke / enricher circuit working ?------Starter motor and battery in good shape ?------What / if any trouble shooting have you done ?

choke working, good battery and stater seems fine, I'm trying to remember if I used a spark checker and seem to remember I did! I'm wondering if weak spark could be a problem but I'm not that knowledgeable! Someone suggested the 12v elec pump for older merc motors!!
