I'm at my wits end and hope to get some help here.
Motor-1993 Evinrude 150 Intruder, rebuilt in 2001
Model-VE150GTELG
Problem-Hard cold start
Once I get the engine runnnig it runs like a*scared rabbit and starts with no problems the rest of the day.
Things I've tried to resolve problem
1. Rebuild Carbs
2. Tested primer solenoid-working fine
3.*Compression Test-Looking at the motor from inside boat- top left-112PSI, mid left 105PSI, bottom left 105psi, Top right 103psi, mid. right 102psi, bottom left 98psi
4. Manual choked- working, also changed the red value and o ring.
5. Changed spark plugs, got the correct gaping and gapped the plugs to .45
6. Checked ground to motor. It's good and tight and wire is as cool.
Within the last few weeks I've noticed that when I'm trying to start the motor a get a black discharge from the inside of the prop.* When I put it on my fingers and smell it, it smells like fuel.* I'm guessing it is the fuel oil mixture.* This only started recently, and seems to be a new problem.
Could a bad fuel pump be the problem?* I think I read somewhere within the last few months of research that a bad diaphram could cause cold hard cold start.
I've been trying to figure this out for months now, and have read many of the post on this forum.* I have followed recommended cold starting procedures.* I am desperate and at a complete lost.* Please if anyone has any ideas on what*I should*do next I would*greatly appreciate it.
