Hello and Wow! Great forum guys and a massive bank of knowledge...
I'm stumped as to the age of my latest eBay purchase and require help..
I like to find out the age of an Evinrude 6hp my best guess is 1985 ish....
the clues....
I currently have a Johnson 8hp BJ8BALCOB rope pull electric AC out
A bit messy but seems like a good little lump... I bought the Evinrude 6hp for £100 inc fuel tank
it's almost identical.. Rope pull... AC out without the fact it's grey and the Johnson is white you'd really struggle to tell them apart.... The Evinrude seems much newer or better maintained as all the original transfers are in place and even on the tiller throttle...
there is no external identification plate but the engine is stamped with 6hp391156 -2 is there a way this number can be decoded?
