grinding sound

I have a 2011 60 H.P. 4 stroke mercury motor with 3 hours on engine. When I am on plane at 3500 rpm and pull back into the detent position (not neutral) I hear a grinding noise.I spoke to the dealer about this and he said it is normal.It will not do it below 3500 rpm. What do you think?

Normal----------The speed of the boat is turning the prop and the clutch dog is ratcheting on the forward gear !!!-----------Normal , normal.-------------Just do not slow down like that and you will not hear it.
