Great pertronix broken

i was installing new pertronix

i was installing new pertronix to my 130d/280 today and notice that the magnet sleeve was to high for the rotor to fit (to high) so i put more presure on magnet wouldnt go down so i got a block of wood and taped it some then some more it moved down then but it brokethe magnet sleeve. my question is does any one know if i voided the warranty? part #2842

"I also had problems getting my sleeve all the way down but luckily I was able to do so without it breaking (I applied pressure using both my thumbs). Your best bet I would think would be to call Petronix and explain to them what happened, and I'd guess they would be happy to send you a replacement sleeve. There has been some previous discussion on this board about this and from what I recall someone metioned slightly filing it down and a mention of applying some light lubricant to it might help. You might try a search for "Pertronix". Once you get your Pertronix installed, you will love it! Good luck."

"I had problems installing mine on the rotor cam too. BUT!!!!!! I used emery cloth to get the rust off the rotor cam. you have to be careful. it is a tight fit....I mean tight.
Good for you that they r gonna warrantee it.
Afriend of mine did the same as you and he had to pay to replace it. Good job. Next time you should try a little emery, and grease. it is tight."
