grease zerks and lubricants

The more I read this forum the more info I get on this drive, thank you all.
Now my question, is there a list or chart showing where all the grease fittings are located, and what type of grease is recommended? Also, what do you all recomend for the lower unit and other liquid lubes?
 
Have Seloc and Clymer manuals, thought maybe someone had put together a list or diagram of the lube points.
I do have question on lower unit lube. All I can find locally is Merc, would that be Ok to use, or is there an aftermarket brand that would be compatable with the Stringer?

Each drive brand and type may.... key word "may".... require a rather unique type of gear oil.
We do not want to haphazardly change what the OEM recommends without prior knowledge.
It could end up costing you.


As for grease types..... I'd continue using what's been used. If in doubt, remove the grease fitting and look inside of it.
Some greases are not chemically compatable with each other. The results can be a grease that turns liquid like when the chemistry is wrong.
 
Good post, Rick. Yea some drives work better with a thinner oil. Stesul411 ALWAYS post what drive, motor, year your working on. I think I saw stringer in there someplace?? You might fill out the profile and add a signature with the boat info. That way it will always be on the posts.
