"I've been told that "Permatex" or similar gasket goo is the bst stuff to put on your prop shaft spline, to prevent the prop hub rusting onto the shaft. I've always used grease, and regularly removed and re-greased. What is the preferred method, and how often? Does the gasket goo work? If so, can you use it on the driveshaft splines as well? thanks in advance..."

Stay with grease and reapply as you have done in the past. If it was the best stuff to use the manufacturer would be using it.

"Yeah, I guessed as much. I stuck with grease this time, for that very reason (Imagining a prop "Glued" to the shaft!). It did sound like a possibility though - good to have sites such as this to get other ppl's opinions!"
