grease nipple DP A

I can't grease the nipple on the drive that's behind the tilt arm because a grease gun can't fit in because of clearance. Do I have to pull the cottoer pins and disasemble the latch mechanism? This seems like a real chore just to lubricate that nipple, it was lubricated last spring is it necessary to do it again.....that latch mech was a bitch to reassemle last year.

Deferred maintenance is what keeps us repair people busy.
I say keep deferring, and one of us will make a mortgage payment from your repair proceeds in the not so distant future.

Of course I'm being sarcastic.
Don't defer maintenance! You will pay for it later!

When was the last time you serviced your PDS bearings?

I haven't where is it loacated? I looked in the VP workshop manual and it says u can press down the rataining pawl and lift the drive..is this the answer to my orig.?

Unfortunately for you, there is no tried and proven method to determine if these bearings are OK while still connected to the engine. They do not lend themselves to a "feel" or any form of testing!

Since you do not know where they are, it may be safe to assume that you have not been lubricating them.

If no history of previous service, or no history of these having been previously replaced, a failure is immanent. A failure here will cost you dearly!
I'd suggest biting the bullet, and replacing them now.

(the PDS is SEQ # 79.... see related bearings)
