The manual is referring to the wire "kit".

You get a coil of wire a bunch of boots and ends.

They simply recomment a bit of RTV sealer to ensure a water tight seal where the boot/end meets the wire - so a little around wire casing close to the end and push the boot on.

Do I do that? No

I keep the entire powerhead, including the wires sprayed down with fogging oil a couple times over the season.

That's my preferred method for keeping moisture and other cooties from causing trouble."

YOU WILL SEE A RUBER COVER AT THE END IT SAYS TO REMOVE, REMOVE TAPE, TAKE APART CERAMIC LIKE ELECRODES AND PUT SEALER ON THEM..IM AFFRAID IF I TAKE APART THESE ELECTRODES WILL BRAKE

I've always bought these loose, which is why I have never seen the instruction you mention that came with it - and to be honest, I probably wouldn't have read it if I did


I've never done anything more than slap these into the mount and hook up the wires..."

"THANKS I DID THAT AND IT DID NOT WORK SO I TOOK IT OUT TOOK THE RUBER OUT AND FOUND OUT IT WAS SMASHED TO BITS, SO I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I DID NOT SEAL IT PROB BECAUSE IT WAS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING , I HAVE ORDERED AN OTHER..BY THE WAY I FOUND MY TROUBLE BY READING THIS BLOG HAD THIS INTERMITANT PROBLEM FOR THREE YEARS AND NOW IT IS A CONSTANT FOUND THE TROUBLE AND HAD SENT TO A MERC SHOP THY NEVER DID BUT I DID.
